MySpace Clinches Music Alliance
As I mentioned in this blog in February, MySpace has been looking for strategic alliance partners to help create an online music distribution system that rivals Apple's iTunes. According to AOL News, the deal is done -- at least the initial phases of it. The MySpace Music venture includes Vivendi's Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group as minority stake holders in the new company. The deal went through after Universal Music agreed to settle a 2006 copyright infringement lawsuit against MySpace.
It's not clear when the new venture will launch.
